Autonomous Crack Monitoring
Frankfort, Kentucky

This site was monitored from January 14 until June 2, 2005.
All historical data is available on this web site.

ITI installed sensors in a concrete masonry-block house near an active limestone quarry. The sensors measure both long-term crack displacement as well as crack response due to ground-induced vibrations. Sensors were placed at three existing crack locations throughout the structure:

  • on interior drywall
  • on the interior of the basement concrete masonry-block wall
  • on the exterior brick

Temperature and humidity sensors were also installed both inside and outside of the home to monitor environmental changes.
